Fresh snow on Mount Benson.
Two walks today; Divers Lake and Departure Bay Beach. Nature took front and center, especially at Diver’s Lake.
Berries and branches were dripping with water.
It was almost raining this Morning at Divers Lake. There was fresh snow on Mount Benson and the branches and berries were dripping with water from the rain the night before.
As we started the walk a Great Blue Heron flew overhead adding its voice to the birds around us.
The lake was so still around the shore, the trees from the shore were reflecting perfectly in the water.
Well, this is probably not a good photograph in that it lacks focus; But oh I love the motion in it!
My favorite picture is the Mallards in Motion.
There was a couple walking ahead of us and they had grain for the ducks. As we walked through the biggest part of the marsh, the couple spread the grain around the ground. I took many pictures of the ducks eating the grain and was taking more as Sophie lost patience and started pulling Tom forward towards the ducks. The Ducks rose en mass and created this wonderful image of motion and colour.
Spotted Towhee – first one I have ever seen
A close second it the picture of a Spotted Towhee. I had never actually seen one of these before! The air was alive with songbirds as we walked through the marsh; red-winged blackbirds, hummingbirds, robins and a great Blue heron were all in good voice. Most moved too fast for my to photograph but this little guy seemed to love posing.
Frilly fungus decorating many of the tree trunks around the lake.
There were many types of tree fungus at Divers Lake. From the solid long-suffering ledges on the trunk of an older tree to the frilly decorative ledges that seemed to have sprung up overnight.
In the afternoon, the sun was really trying to burn through the clouds, so we went for another walk, just a quick one, down to Departure Bay Beach. I only saw some Art Noveau branches and a few interesting shells on the beach.

The towhees come into our garden. We didn;t know what they were until our bird watching friend identified them for us. Your pic of the towhee is lovely.
