September Square – Slip-Cross Block

Materials:  90 – 95 yds Tracks – Mykonos Blue;  Size US3 (3.25mm) needles or size needed to obtain gauge

Gauge:  26 sts / 36 rows = 4 inches

Abbreviations:  K – knit.  LC – left cross; insert RH needle into the back of the second st on the LH needle and knit it – do not slip off – insert RH needle into the back of the third st on the LH needle and knit it – do not slip off – bring RH needle with the sts on it to the front of the work and knit the skipped st from the front, slipping all three worked sts off together.  LH – left hand.  P – purl.  RC – right cross; insert RH needle into the front of the third st from the point of the LH needle and knit it – do not slip off – knit into the front of the first skipped st and knit it, slip it off, then knit into the front of the second st, slip both worked sts off together.  RH – right hand.  Sl – slip.  St(s) – stitch(es).

Pattern

Cast on 57.

Row 1: P1, *p1 with 2 wraps, p3; rep from * across.

Row 2: *K3, sl1 with yarn in back, letting the extra loop drop; rep from * across end with k1.

Row 3: P1, *sl1 with yarn in front, p3; rep from * across.

Row 4: *K1, cross 1 over 2 RC; rep across end with k1.

Row 5: P4, *p1 with 2 wraps, p3; rep from * across ending with p1.

Row 6: K4, *sl1 with yarn in back, letting the extra loop drop, k3; rep from * across end with k1.

Row 7: P4, *sl1, with yarn in front, p3; rep from * across end with p1.

Row 8: K4, *cross 1 over 2 LC, k1; rep from * across end with cross 1 over 2 LC, k2.

Rep rows 1-8 until piece measures 8 inches, bind off loosely.
